Main responsibilities:
  • Maintain an accurate computer based accounting system ensuring accurate management reporting and interrogation by management provides accurate information.
  • Ensure payroll, pension, expense claims and HMRC payments are completed accurately within agreed policies, procedures and to deadline
  • To balance accounts to month and year end.
  • To manage stock valuations, counts and postings adjustments to cost of goods sold
  • Preparation of accurate quarterly VAT returns
  • Uploading fortnightly supplier payment runs onto the bank for approval and processing other ad hoc payments when required.
  • Ensuring receipts and payments are applied to Xero in a timely manner (date of receipt/issue) and discrepancies are managed/escalated to resolution in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Reconciling bank accounts in a timely manner.
  • To upload and maintain systems budgets and forecasts, maintain and report against actuals.
  • To balance accounts to month and year end and prepare month end packs for review.
  • To prepare monthly Finance reports
  • To prepare statutory year end schedules and accounts
  • Maintain and distribute Petty cash in accordance with agreed procedures

Organisational responsibilities:
  • To develop and comply with policies, regulations, systems and procedures in all areas including Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Quality and work towards achieving best practice and high standards
  • Manage the day-to-day work of delivery projects in area of responsibility and related activities to ensure that agreed targets and milestones are achieved
  • Attend meetings to provide information and feedback for other team members to share good
  • To contribute to the wider work and development of our client and undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required within the scope and level of the post

Health & Safety

The post holder will:
  • Work with due regard to health and safety to themselves and others and will abide by our clients Health & Safety Policy
  • Support the Health & Safety Officer in the identification of potential health & safety risks to ensure that they are rectified appropriately and efficiently

  • Our clients employees and volunteers are expected to comply fully with the organisation's confidentiality policy


Skills, qualifications and experience required

  • Appropriate professional qualification level 4 or above
  • Able to quickly analyse information including financial information and evaluate the implications
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to respond and investigate queries.
  • Able to travel independently with the area of our clients operation
  • Ability to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to deliver complex ideas and arguments in a variety of ways to diverse audiences (through effective presentation skills and meetings)
  • Experience of developing and/or maintaining quality systems and procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft applications of Excel, Outlook, Databases and Word
  • Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy
