Installation Engineer / Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler / Commissioning Engineer required to join an established manufacturer of production machinery and mechanical equipment based. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical assembly, mechanical fitting and/or installation of industrial machinery or related products. Experience of working with various hand tools and machinery would be an advantage but not essential. Almost all products are built to a bespoke specification, all projects are in house and ran from conceptual phase through to delivery and aftercare.

Installation Engineer / Mechanical Fitter Position Overview

The key responsibility to this position is the mechanical assembly and building of plant and industrial machinery. Some works may require electro-mechanical assembly, although this will be simple connection work. While most works are carried out in house, the ability to travel domestically and overseas for installation and commissioning projects is essential. This can be done over a period of 1 week, approximately 4-5 times a year.

Other key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Ensuring all machinery is fitted correctly before testing and commissioning work is begun.
To maintain a clean and safe working environment in the factory.
To progress jobs so they meet timescales given.
Adhering to engineering drawings.

Installation Engineer / Mechanical Fitter Position Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of working experience in the installation of mechanical machinery or production equipment.
Proven background in mechanical assembly or fitting.
As mentioned above, almost all work is carried out in-house. However, the ability to stay away for up to a week at a time, 4-5 times a year to carry out installations and commissioning work is essential.
Holder of a CSCS card would be a distinct advantage.
Previous work using hand held tools and machinery would be advantageous.
A HND/HNC or Apprentice Served Qualification in a Mechanical Engineering field of study would be advantageous but is not essential.
Happy to be hands on and a high attention to detail required to ensure quality.
Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
Able to read technical/engineering drawings.
Maintaining Health and Safety Standards and promoting safe working conditions and practises.

Installation Engineer / Mechanical Fitter Position Remuneration

Salary £23,000 - £26,000pa dependent upon experience
Overtime usually available although not guaranteed
28 Days holiday including Bank Holidays
