The Production Engineer will support the Engineering and Production departments with Engineering change administration and NPI, develop new product ideas from concept to production line working in close liaison with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

My client is a market leading design and manufacturing business of low volume / high value complex products that are supplied in to a broad range of industries.


The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
  • Support regular design and engineering drawing reviews.
  • Hands on with problem solving within manufacturing/ assembly area.
  • Applying Lean manufacturing techniques to improve product quality and productivity.
  • Manufacturing cell design and shop floor layout improvements.
  • Be the 'go between' for Design and Manufacturing.
  • Attend formal design reviews, to advise relevant Production Engineering issues related to Assembly process and eliminate re-occurrences.
  • Take corrective action to manufacture queries and non-conformance and advise responsible designer as appropriate.
  • Review Engineering drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM), including the determining and understanding of specific product requirements and develop Manufacturing methods to minimise cost impacts.
  • Ensure all changes to process, methodology, environment, practice, etc., that are put in place within the department are fully implemented and adhered to in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Ensure that attention to detail, rectification of design error, and cost control, are considerations that you have at the forefront of your mind when engaged on design work - for both new and existing products.
  • With a strong knowledge of 5S principles lead Process Improvement projects delivering significant cost, quality and performance benefits utilising Lean Manufacturing and other "best in class" tools and techniques.
  • Project manage approved Continuous Improvement projects through to conclusion. Develop project plan, establish project team and deliver to plan.

  • Worked in a similar Manufacturing Engineer or Production Engineer position with knowledge of supporting new products coming into Production via design and development stages.
  • A degree in Mechanical Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data driven approach to problem solving.
  • Knowledge in 3D modelling design software: CREO Elements is essential
  • An understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles / 5s / DFM / DFMEA / PFMEA and MRP systems is desirable but not essential.

Job Offer

£35,000 - £40,000 +Benefits
