AYR WORKSHOP WORKSHOP FLEET MAINTENANCE CRAFTPERSON DAY SHIFT BAND 5 AFC Band 5 - £24,670 - £30,742 Permanent Position - 37.5 Hours, Plus an on Call allowance The Scottish Ambulance Service Fleet Department maintain a fleet of 1,450 emergency response, scheduled care and support vehicles nationally through 16 in house maintenance facilities and partner services. The workshop is involved in the service and maintenance of all vehicles in the South West Region. Based at the Ayr workshop, will cover several busy ambulance stations and other workshops when required. The candidate must be a flexible person, who must be able to respond when required, to pressures relating to vehicle maintenance and repair demands, in the workshop or field. To meet the challenges of this position, candidates should have at least 3 years post apprenticeship experience, ensuring all work on vehicles is carried out to Scottish Ambulance Service standards. This will to be a part of a service team maintaining the fleet of ambulance and support vehicles in the West Region. The post holder will report and be directed by the Chargehand based in Ayr workshop. Working closely alongside the Operational staff, a high level of good communication is needed for the post; ensuring vehicles are arranged through them for maintenance and servicing. The post holder will be a qualified mechanic, with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and LCV's. The post requires a competent individual with extensive vehicular diagnostic knowledge, auto electrical and analytical skills. Candidates will be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision to the highest standards, in a time and safety critical environment. Candidates must hold a full driving licence (C1 & D1 entitlement attainment would be a condition of employment). A sound working knowledge of computers, use of software programmes, internet and e-mail is essential. This is a full time position working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. A rotating 'On Call' pattern of weekend Saturday and Sunday every 3rd week will be part of the post responsibility, with occasional overtime and public holiday working.
