LV= Motor Claims have got a rare opportunity for a Senior Claims Consultant to join the Technical Claims Team at one of our multi-site offices in Bournemouth, Ipswich or Leeds. In this role you will be responsible for settling complex claims and to providing excellent technical guidance to customer-facing operational teams to comply with group policy, whilst remaining commercially aware.

About You

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous working knowledge of motor claims, with an excellent understanding of indemnity and liability and to be used to dealing with a wide variety of injury types As it is a dynamic and hands on role, you will be expected to be able to investigate claims yourself by visiting the insured, witnesses, accident locations, and to prepare witness statements as required. Communication skills will be your second nature and you will be expected to negotiate directly with claimant solicitors in line with your authority and to be able to achieve optimum outcomes.

You will manage a portfolio of high value cases from first notification to settlement. You will be able to understand fraud issues and look to minimise the impact of fraud within the Technical Claims area. You will work in a mid-sized team based in one of our LV= offices so great collaboration skills are key!

As a Senior Claims Consultant you will be able to demonstrate a great deal of proactivity and manage litigation on cases by use of conferences with Counsel and Joint Settlement Meetings nationwide. You will also act as a technical referral point for an operational claims area so will suit a candidate with strong mentoring and coaching skills.

The Details
  • To be responsible for the settlement of own claims up to £400K and up to £800K on referral, in a cost effective manner that is congruent with claims policy and targets
  • A member of a team responsible for a portfolio of claims with an incurred value of circa £100,000,000.00
  • To contribute to setting, implementing, embedding and monitoring of technical standards of administration for GI claims
  • To provide multi-site technical advice and guidance to customer facing staff and other key stakeholders
  • To provide technical advice and guidance to support process or system change
  • To contribute to the maintenance of effective relationships with other business units and with relevant third parties including the ABI and OUR REGULATORS, ensuring Liverpool Victoria's voice is heard in order to influence the claims market
  • To manage litigation on own cases by own decision making, demonstrating consideration of alternative approaches such as mediation and face-to-face discussions, such as conferences with Counsel and Joint Settlement Meetings nationwide
  • To identify patterns of issues that undermines the quality of claims handling and propose solutions
  • To issue reports as /when necessary on Serious Potential Claims to the appropriate distribution list
  • To periodically review outstanding reserves to ensure that appropriate levels are being held
  • To be actively involved and contribute to Technical Surgeries; Training; Projects; System change and audits as/when required
  • To approve changes to Claims Operations working practices, reference materials and other documented standards and controls
