Weaver Vale Housing Trust has a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Support Officer to provide assistance to the busy Legal Team, based in Gadbrook, Northwich. You will work on a full time, 6 month contract to cover maternity leave and you will receive a highly competitive salary of £21,105-£23,260 per annum pro-rata.

The Legal Support Officer role:

You will provide support with a wide range of matters including; applications to purchase properties and the subsequent sales process, land ownership enquiries, accessing properties for safety inspections, management of leasehold properties, communication with internal and external customers and general administrative duties.

Key responsibilities of our Legal Support Officer:

- Responsible for providing day to day administrative support to the Legal and Commercial Services Team.

- Assist the Legal Officer(s) in connection with gaining access to Trust properties for the purposes of carrying out annual gas safety inspections.

- Identify opportunities for the team to utilise technology in order to improve its system and processes and implement the same.

- Make optimum use of the Trust's housing management system, QL, in managing processes and procedures and as a means of managing customer relationships.

- Assist with identifying and managing the Trust's statutory compliance responsibilities in relation to commercial and leasehold properties.

- Assist the Legal Officer(s) and Company Solicitor with the management of the Trust's portfolio of commercial properties.

- Take and efficiently deal with telephone enquiries including those related to Right to Buy and Right to Acquire, shared ownership, boundary and land ownership queries and debt queries. Where you are unable to resolve these yourself you will refer them to the appropriate member of staff.

- Deal with basic land ownership and boundary queries on behalf of the team by utilising (using amongst other things) the Land Registry's website, official copy entries and SJ plans.

- Assist with debt recovery at a basic level including reviewing debt reports, writing to debtors to chase unpaid monies, advising how payment can be made arranging payments.

- Act as an intermediary between the Legal and Commercial Services team and other teams at the Trust and customers and to ensure that the level of service provided is of the highest possible standard, providing them with accurate and up to date information.

What we're looking for in our Legal Support Officer:

- 3 GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English

- Previous experience in an administration role

- Ability to collate, manipulate and present data in the form of graphs, spreadsheets and other formats as required.

- Ability to communicate confidently and maintain professional relationships with colleagues at all levels and customers

- Good IT skills with Microsoft packages in particular and with an ability to adapt to new systems quickly

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and efficiently to deadlines

- Excellent customer service skills including being able to answer telephone calls in a professional manner
