PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

CLIENT BASED IN WEST AFRICA

* Responsible for the day to day management of all technical affairs of company vessels.

* Reviewing and resolving reported problems, defects, deficiencies, non- conformances, and customer complaints which have or may have impact on the workings of the vessels.

* Overall responsibility for managing the vessel's day to day operations to ensure 100% fleet uptime, within budget.

* Acts as the first point-of-contact and interface on all technical vessel matters

* Prepares Vessel Technical Budget for approval and ensures compliance with budget.

* Scheduling regulatory / emergency dry-docking and management of major repairs in order to ensure the condition of hull and onboard equipment and machinery are in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

* Conduct appraisal of technical crew and shore staff in accordance with company appraisal system.

* Liaising with HR/Admin Dept on the appointment of vessel technical crew.

* Ensuring awareness of technical and legislative developments affecting present and future operations and provide the technical advice to all relevant departments.

* Ensure detailed technical inspections of vessels are carried out every quarter, where practical.

* Monitoring and implementing planned maintenance system on all vessels.

* Ensuring that planned maintenance reports are sent in from the ships in a timely manner.

* Monitoring the defects reporting system and following up to ensure that responses and repairs are handled in a timely manner.

* Coordinating timely responses from the technical team to relevant parties (Charterer/Class/ Flag) on deficiencies found from inspections /surveys.

* Ensuring both computerized and hard copy data for the Technical Department is accurate, authentic, current, and maintained in an auditable state at all times.

* Present reports on vessel's technical performance to Executive Management.

REQUIREMENTS

* Degree in Engineering (Marine, Electrical or Mechanical).

* A masters in any of the above fields is an added advantage.

* Minimum of ten years relevant working experience with PSV's, FSIV's, Security Vessels etc.

* Working knowledge of vessel operations with IOC's in Nigeria especially at Onne is an added advantage.

* Thorough knowledge of industry standards.

* Ability to handle sophisticated technical/electrical defects within the vessels.

* Good computer skills including understanding of MX Suite or related software for vessel maintenance /vessel management operations.

* Ability to work in difficult, stressful and sometimes volatile situations
