Buyer - Spider Recruitment Services, the specialist recruitment division of Spider are currently working with a market leading Manufacturing/Engineering company based in Ipswich who have a permanent full-time Procurement vacancy.

The UK business is part of an International Group of companies and was born from the integration of different businesses specialising in copper alloys, copper, nickel alloys, aluminium alloys, specialty steels, stainless steels, titanium and nickel super alloys. They provide innovative solutions to all major industries such as Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power, Railway but also in sectors manufacturing smaller equipment and products.

They have several production facilities operating a unique range of metal processing technologies: continuous and semi-continuous casting, sand casting, die precision chill casting (manual, mechanized and automated), centrifugal casting, extrusion, ring rolling, hot and cold rolling, drawing, open-die forging, hot stamping, closed-die forging, cold forming, machining, non-destructive testing, etc.

Salary: Circa £35,000 (flexible for the right candidate)
Report to: Managing Director
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00 (flexible for the right candidate)

Mission: You must optimise the purchasing function by refocusing it, rationalising it (methods, rules, procedures) and sourcing, market watch, supplier audit. Some travel (UK and overseas) together with overnight stays may be required.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Work with the Group purchasing team to define the company's purchasing policy and responsible for the implementation of this for the company
- In collaboration with the services concerned, the specifications, the calls for tenders, the selection of the suppliers and the negotiation of the purchases in a concern of reactivity and control of the costs.
- Manage the flows of materials, components and services necessary for the continuous operation of the company.
- Optimize the quality / cost ratio of the purchases, considering:
o product quality standards,
o manufacturing processes implemented,
o quantities needed.
- Centralise the purchasing budget, check the consistency, follow-up and inform the management of any foreseeable exceedance.
- Establish and develop the purchasing and stock reports
- All purchases are to be made by the purchasing department.
- Ensure the reliability and rationalisation of the company's sources of supply in terms of deadlines, quality, quantities and prices and put in place the necessary indicators.
- Optimize and rationalise the company purchases, set up a strategy to carry out any market research (sourcing, benchmarking) and reduce the panel of suppliers.
- Build partnership contracts with suppliers (product purchases, services) and ensure all legislation is met.
- You will be involved in the development of the company's investment plans.
- You will resolve any disputes with suppliers.
- Perform validation and reliability audits and set up a marketing strategy (monitoring, sourcing)
- Organise the administrative and computerized management of the purchases, the placing of the orders at the reception of the suppliers while ensuring the respect of the formalities and the legislation in force in this field.
- Complete regular vendor rating analysis.
- Management reports
