You will be responsible for the day to day running of the department. Providing support to the department Workshop Manager in the day to day operational activities.

You will support/own the effective leadership/management of the department in ensuring quality procedures are adhered to, productivity levels are increased and EHS and production targets are achieved whilst driving the continuous improvement of the overall appearance of the whole department.

You will provide 'hands on' direction for operational resources across your team to achieve a common goal, delivery of major projects OTIF.

Job Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities
  • Develop & cultivate people management skills to get the paramount out of the departmental team.
  • Deliver team briefs and toolbox talks to the wider team, attend morning production meetings on request.
  • Learn how the SAP system works to enable daily productivity activities to be carried out.
  • Understand the department processes and how parts/gear boxes are planned through each operation.
  • Support the Workshop Manager to ensure the department complies with all relevant statutory and company standards, to include but not limited to the Company Health Safety and Environmental policies.
  • To implement, facilitate and encourage rigorous improvement programmes.
  • To support the Workshop Manager in all aspects of quality procedures.
  • To ensure the 5s standards set for cleanliness in the department are achieved and sustained, and to monitor and report back when these standards are not met.
  • Understand how to use and report within the company's time management system including shift arrangements, holiday's, absenteeism, and day to day attendance through the T&A system and shift charts etc.
  • Be prepared to make occasional visits to customers' sites to support field service activities when required.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers / Workshop Manager on a daily basis to define departmental requirements and co-ordinate such work to in order to meet defined targets.
  • Monitor service gearbox's coming into the workshop and ensure that KPI and OTD targets are met.

Job Requirements / Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Good computer skill in Microsoft office
  • Previous experience writing risk assessments and method statements desirable but not essential.
  • Good and effective communicator
  • Team player
  • Driving licence
  • Flexibility
