My client is recruiting for a Technical Writer to join their expanding team to produce, review and update technical documentation and instruction for end-users, enabling them to maximise their use of the company platform.

Key Deliverables:
  • User experience: it is critical that documentation and instruction for end-users is engaging, easy to follow and gives the user confidence to use system functionality effectively, as quickly as possible.
  • Quality: highly professional and accurate documents reflect the quality product offered to customers and create a great impression.
  • Process: documentation and release processes are to be followed at all times to ensure documentation and instruction are released in a timely, quality and consistent manner.

Instructional manuals and user guides:
  • Write instructional manuals for platform users.
  • Ensure written instructions are clear, organised and easy to follow documents.
  • Create graphics and diagrams as required to best demonstrate system usage and functionality.
  • Develop user-facing tutorials and associated documentation to improve customer experience.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the audience for documentation required.
  • Interpret technical information and adapt for different audiences as required.

Standards, processes and continuous improvement:
  • Meticulously follow style and document guides/standards.
  • At all times follow the review and publishing processes in force from time to time.
  • Edit existing content to conform to any updated standards as well as improve clarity.
  • Develop standards and protocols for other internal teams to document functionality/usability.
  • Plan content for future platform developments.
  • Be actively involved in testing phases to ensure documentation is accurate and clear.
  • Contribute to and propose improvements to documentation and processes.

Business Support:
  • Maintain the Business Management System by updating existing and adding new processes, procedures and work instructions.
  • Contribute to business responses to RFP or other bid/tender processes.

Education/Qualifications/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree/equivalent, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science or IT discipline, or substantial alternative work experience
  • Software Technical Writing experience
  • Experience of following release processes
  • Proof reading / copy experience
  • Experience of working within an agile environment or with SCRUM processes (Desirable)
  • Experience using RoboHelp, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with web technologies: HTML, XML, Flash, JavaScript (Desirable)
  • Experience with graphic programs such as Visio, Fireworks, Photoshop (Desirable)
  • Experience managing translation projects (Desirable)

Skills/Aptitude:

  • Able to translate technical information into everyday language
  • Language skills, preferably French, German, Dutch or Japanese (Desirable)
