TMS are one of the leading IT & software solutions providers in the UK, with offices in Larbert & Aberdeen. We have 3 divisions - CAD software, Sage business software, and IT Managed Services & Support; and approx. 45 staff across these divisions.

We're looking for someone to join our growing IT support team. This division offers a range of managed IT services (i.e. server / PC monitoring, patch management, anti-virus, etc.) to our clients, as well as a hotline support service & disaster recovery / business continuity solutions.

Job Specifics

As an IT Support Engineer, you will be based in our head office in Larbert. Every day is different, split between providing remote support from the office, and going out to customer sites when necessary.

Responsibilities to include:
  • Providing 1st and 2nd line IT support for helpdesk issues - with focus to be on server/ network rather than desktop issues.
  • New server installations.
  • To become familiar with our back-up solutions & take responsibility for setting up managed back-ups; and for restoring when necessary.


Essential technical skills:


- Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016

- Virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V / VMware)

- Microsoft Exchange server 2010/2013

- Microsoft Office & Office 365

- Back-up products (such as Windows / Symantec / Veeam / etc.)

- Router & firewall products (particularly Cisco & Draytek)

- Network understanding (VPN, wireless networking, routing, switching, etc.) and network troubleshooting skills (knowledge of using command line tools such as ping, tracert, Nslookup etc.)

Desired technical skills:

- Microsoft Azure & cloud technologies

- Fortinet Firewalls

- StorageCraft Backup Solutions

- CCNA Network Engineer qualification

- Past experience as an IT support engineer / IT technician would be preferable.

Other / Non-technical requirements:

- Full UK driving licence

- Someone with a passion for IT and support, who has the drive to learn new technologies

- Strong communication & interpersonal skills

- Enjoy problem solving / challenges

- Enjoy working as part of a team
