AECOM has long standing relationships providing support to a range of national and regional clients such as HS2, Highways England, Transport for West Midlands, metropolitan districts and shire counties deliver their ambitious plans for economic and housing related growth.AECOM are seeking an ambitious and self-driven Regional Director to manage and grow our regional modelling team into a centre of excellence for modelling. As leader of the Strategic Modelling Team, you will play a leadership role in the operation and business affairs in the region to ensure our clients deliver transport projects on time and budget. You will play a leading role in the wider AECOM modelling community across UK and Ireland.Job Duties:Lead the management and growth of a Strategic Transport Modelling Team in Birmingham.Provide technical and professional mentoring and supervisory support.Liaise closely with colleagues across the wider Transportation business making a major contribution to the strategic development of the team and business planning to influence the wider Transportation offer in Birmingham and across UK and Ireland.Managing a range of small, medium and large scale modelling and related projects as the Project Manager or Project Director in accordance with guidance for transportation and highways schemes.Effectively communicate project and operational critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and Clients.Assisting AECOM raise visibility of its modelling and wider transport planning capabilities.Support strategic recruitment activities to enable team growth.Delegate tasks to junior staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery.Attend project and Client meetings on behalf of our business.Deliver projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.Prepare transport models in accordance with client requirements and technical best practice.Manage the preparation of technical and client reports.Assist the Market Lead for Transport Planning and take a lead role for business development activities related to Transport Planning and Strategic Modelling to understand clients' current and ongoing needs and to maximise work from existing and potential new clients within and outside our organization.Supporting major bidding activity and leading the writing and submission of small and medium sized projects including the preparation of fee proposals including consideration of resources and programme.Specific Skills Required:An analytical mind and background and broad understanding of current transportation trends and issues.Knowledge and experience in multi-modal transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals.Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of simulation software packages including one or more of the following - SATURN, PARAMICS, CUBE, EMME, VISUM, VISSIM, TUBA and spreadsheet modelling.Good communication skills to explain technical concepts to others, especially colleagues and clientsGood time management skills.Very strong technical and report writing skills.Minimum RequirementsExtensive experience in Transport Modelling, delivering and managing transport projects.Staff management experienceExtensive knowledge in the preparation of strategic transport models.Good knowledge of Business Case preparation and requirements.Demonstrable experience in the management of large scale projects.Business development experience and strong track record in work winning.Preferred QualificationsFirst Degree in Transportation or associated discipline.Membership of a relevant professional body.Your benefits will include:Helping our employees achieve a healthy work-life balance is important to us.
