The Freshfields Global Centre provides both business and legal services to the firm. Our services are delivered in a way which supports the global nature of our firm and our clients, enables our fee earners to deliver exceptional service to our clients and to do that in a way which is efficient and effective. Our Centre in Manchester is the first site to be established in the emerging Freshfields Global operating model. Our aspiration is to establish further sites in the US and Asia-Pacific in the coming years.
Function Overview

The Finance Support function in Manchester provides centralised global support to the firm across its network of offices. Teams currently include Billing, Procurement and Management Accounting.

The Group Management Accounts team works alongside the firm's Chief Financial Officer, senior management partners and global support heads to provide the financial information required to run the business. In addition to the prompt provision of financial data and analytics, the team is expected to manage, develop and control the production of management data across the firm's local finance functions, providing them with support and guidance through continual review and development. Qualifications Role Purpose
Working within the systems area of the finance support department. You will be part of a team supporting all of the firm's global finance systems including the firm's practice management system (PMS) in addition to other ancillary Finance systems.

The role will provide support to the Finance Systems Team in the delivery of projects, changes and enhancements to the core finance systems. The change coordinator will be involved in the full lifecycle of change of both small and large scale changes. They will maintain a view of all the ongoing changes within the finance systems area, managing their smooth transfer from development to live, ensuring priority items are identified and expedited and co-ordinating with IT and the business with regards to downtime and release windows.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

Work closely with the Finance Systems Manager and team lead to allocate resources to change items;Chair triage meetings with the Finance Systems Manager and other stakeholders to identify and prioritise new change items;Ensure that standards for logging and documenting change through the change system, (currently Jira), are adhered to;Work in conjunction with IT to plan, develop and co-ordinate the release of change items, both of large and small to the various different environments, ensuring that risk is kept to a minimum;Design and develop the change process so that it evolves with the requirements of the business and the team, implementing guidelines and policing the change process to ensure they are followed;Present and explain change items to the Change Advisory Board, ensuring that the Finance release process fits in with IT's requirements;Organize and co-ordinate, from a finance support perspective, the implementation of new upgrades, functionality and system wide changes across the department;Plan and direct the implementation of complex projects to complete the roadmap, managing expectations and prioritising and managing multiple projects at one time;Manage risk within the Finance Systems, anticipate and address challenging situations, balancing risk and reward and exercising good judgement when it comes to escalation on issues that would leave the firm exposed or at risk;Develop and maintain project timelines and resource plans at various levels of detail;Define and document the approach for large projects, planning for delivery, detailing deliverables and measures of success;Maintain short term action lists and chase for completion;Complete documentation required for the change process;Organise and lead project meetings, maintaining appropriate agendas and completing minutes of the meetings along with actions;Chase actions and maintain the momentum of projects and change items. Report and communicate progress against plan and issues to the project team, sponsors and stakeholders.

Key Requirements

Excellent financial skills including;Experience of financial systems within a professional services environment, ideally from a legal background.Experience of delivery of finance related projects;Skilled / adaptable in building relationships across different cultures and working effectively in a collaborative environment;Substantial experience of project and change management;Educated to degree level;IT literate, expert user of MS Project, Excel and MS Visio;Excellent systems skills including;Understanding of the finance function processes, revenue recording and accounting systems preferably TRE 3e;Be able to communicate with internal IT on technical related issues;Knowledge of servers and database structures;Knowledge of systems infrastructure including multi-tiered architecture;Be able to communicate with internal IT and external suppliers on technical related issues;Experience of implementing and supporting financial systems;Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
