Term:PermanentDepartment:Human ResourcesLocation:ManchesterThe FirmThe Team:The HR department is responsible for the provision of a full range of HR services to the Firm (c. 800 UK staff), including recruitment and resourcing, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, staff welfare, advice on employment law issues, compliance with Law Society/statutory obligations, appraisal arrangements and maintenance of personnel records. The role will report to the Reward Manager on management of our reward policies, payroll, and benefits and will manage the HR Apprentice to ensure successfully delivery on work streams. You will be the key contact and provide advice and guidance to colleagues and managers.Key ResponsibilitiesPayrollAssume responsibility for managing UK payroll changes in the relevant month by updating the monthly payroll spreadsheet for our external payroll bureau. Ensuring data is sent to our external payroll bureau by the relevant deadlines and in the relevant formatLiaising closely with our external payroll bureau to ensure changes are accurately processed and resolve any issues that arise. This is achieved through checking the trial runs by calculating gross pay calculations, cross checking data between systems/spreadsheets, and using an understanding of statutory deductions to ensure our employees are paid correctlyPrepare the monthly payroll reports for Finance and the relevant reports to allow sign off of the payroll with the Reward ManagerProcessing USA payroll changes including pensions onto the external payroll software and ensure payslips are accurate.Update the pension system each pay period to ensure the correct bank charges are madeManage the annual P11D process by compiling the premiums per employee for their taxable benefits in the relevant tax year. This will include liaising with our external payroll bureau to complete the relevant data sheets, checking draft statements, issuing statements to employees and dealing with any queries which ariseEnsure we comply with pension auto-enrolment legislation by processing relevant reports, checking auto enrolment communication and processing employee pension contribution changes. Ensure changes are processed on the relevant payroll month and systems are updated.Attend and take forward actions from Pension Governance meetingTake responsibility for managing the compilation of data and corresponding analytics for statutory pay, bonus and benefits including Gender Pay GapReward & BenefitsManaging the online benefits portal including coordinating monthly updates (new starters, employee changes, leavers etc.). Liaising closely with the external online support team to resolve any system errors, ensure all data is checked thoroughly each year and building strong working relationship with themEnsuring that any reward & benefit changes are applied to the HR system and through to payrollProcessing benefit requests received including updating monthly provider and payroll reports Liaising with our providers and Broker as appropriate to ensure member changes are processedLiaise with benefit providers and account managers to ensure membership details are correct through completion of eligibility reports, solve any issues and process invoices within timescalesWorking closely with the Reward Manager, manage the annual flexible benefits firm wide renewal process including data checking and cleansing, site testing, content amendment, communications and updating records.Support the Reward Manager with finalising benefit renewal terms with our external broker and manage the associate project planProviding analytical support by completing the annual salary review analysis and providing a summary of findings.Work with the Reward Manager to feed this data into the salary stance and budget for the year aheadComplete job evaluation for across the business working closely with other HR colleagues and managers to ensure roles are consistently graded and in turn paid in line with market rate. Maintain the job evaluation spreadsheet ensuring that information is up to date.Manage the monthly employee awards scheme including maintaining the long service tracker, gathering nominations, promoting the scheme and organising prizesProvide support and training to the HR Apprentice, coordinating and delegating work as required and ensuring its successful completionOtherWorking with the Reward Manager to support and where relevant lead on projects including salary review, total reward statements, employee benefits annual window, bonus scheme and recognition scheme.Manage the HR Apprentice providing training and ongoing support to help them develop in the role and pick up administrative responsibilities.Ensure the maintenance of our corporate discounts including updating current offers, sourcing new offers and promoting the discounts available. Co-ordinate with the HR Apprentice to take forward actionsTo provide support and training to members of the HR team as requiredTo analyse employee data and trends providing key management information to senior managers.Responding to queries via telephone, email and face-to-face, from both employees and partnersContent editing the HR webpages on the intranet, posting online updates on the e-noticeboard and liaising with the Marketing Team as appropriateExperience/Skills RequiredSignificant experience of working in a similar role, including experience of managing payroll data and hold a strong understanding of pay and pension auto-enrolment legislation.Experienced in working at an advisory level in a HR and/or Reward role to take responsibility of work streams, manage projects and deal with sensitive and complex employee issuesExperience in providing training, support and supervising junior members of the teamExcellent attention to detail with experience of managing and verifying large amounts of dataStrong communication (written and verbal) and experience with acting as a key point of contact for queries and managing stakeholder relationsExcellent time management skills including experience of managing projects and meeting strict deadlines on a regular basisA strong level of PC literacy including the ability to use MS Office (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook).
