Our customers are diverse and unique and are only united by our ability to provide specialist insurance tailored to their needs.The role Whilst this role can be based in any of our 7 UK locations we do require someone who is willing to be based in Colchester 2-3 days per week.Our ambition is to take our UK Scheme business from the £100m it is today to a £250m highly profitable and efficient book, with a newly created Head of Schemes role driving the strategy and teams to achieve it.After an independent review of our schemes capability and structure, we are bringing together the component parts under one leadership role to give clarity, alignment and accountability to deliver the next steps needed to achieve the future of Schemes. The role will lead the teams of sales management, underwriting management & referrals and schemes delivery. The role will also be responsible for future strategy of the business and will be instrumental in shaping and implementing the findings from the schemes review.What you'll be doing As Head of Schemes you will have accountability for Schemes through a virtual P&L to give the visibility needed to drive financial performance and profitability. For total clarity the Schemes book will remain embedded in the regional P&Ls too.The role is a blend of leadership, strategy, operations, sales and project managementLeadershipLead the team to ensure that the schemes GWP and profit targets are delivered for the UKLead the development of the future strategy for schemes in the UKSet performance objectives for the team and take appropriate action against underperformance as necessaryWork closely with the Underwriting, Delivery and Sales managers to ensure that all staff are obtaining the necessary technical and personal development needed.Ensure the succession of key roles through the active development of our talent and ensuring appropriate resource.Strategic mindsetContinually improving service levels within Schemes to ensure that we are truly delivering market leading serviceDevelop excellent schemes new and renewal processes to ensure alignment between Schemes and Regions.Deliver efficient schemes in line with strategy of reducing the overall expense baseDevelop the future technology solution for both internal and external use.This role carries no underwriting authority.Drives resultsWork closely with Regional Managers to ensure alignment of schemes with regional requirements for each broker and the overall strategy.Regular reporting of schemes performance to appropriate leaderships teamEngage with and hold to account the schemes owners, RM's and RUM's in the regions to ensure pro-active management of their schemes.Decision QualityTaking on some of the hard conversations with awkward brokers.Show the ability to face reality and make strong decisions quickly about costs and people to deliver sustainable results.Ensure high motivation and energy in schemes through leading by example.
Person Specification:
Our must haves Degree/business qualification preferred, however this is not essential for an experienced individual.Proven track record in leading, motivating and developing a team to achieve business goals is a non-negotiable essentialFirst class 'Excellence in Execution'An established business leaderExcellent interpersonal skills and able to quickly establish credibility in order to develop long lasting relationships with underwriters and brokers.Commercial acumen with the ability to contribute to the overall UK strategy and add value beyond their own specialism.A visible passion for schemes, brokers and the end customerDiversity and flexible working at HiscoxAt Hiscox we care about our people.
