Job description summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join the Recruitment area of our FTSE 250 organisation. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager (SCFM), this will be the lead finance role for the Tower providing full finance support to the Tower Director and Tower contracts management team (CMT). Working with the Tower Director and CMT, you will be responsible for the Tower's profitability & adherence to targets, balance sheet control, budgeting & forecasting, delivering cost competitiveness projects and overseeing processes that contribute to the above.

Job duties

Financial planning & control
  • Working with Tower Director, produce and present budgets & forecasts with relevant analysis/KPIs and commentaries for the Tower.
  • Challenge proposed forecasts and budgets with the CMT to explore potential revenue growth / cost reduction areas and risks to maximising profit calling out key risks and opportunities.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the balance sheet position with focus on risk areas such as debtors/prepayments whilst monitoring movements and associated impacts on cashflow and cashflow forecasting.
  • Oversee preparation of management accounts and commissions working closely with dotted line Management Accountants.

Commercial activity
  • Have a holistic view of each contract / cost centre in the Tower and associated financial & non-financial KPIs. Must be able to articulate reasons for variances and challenge Operations to improve where necessary whilst always being mindful of risks & opportunities of such variances on delivering the annual Business Plan. Must call out risks to FD/SCFM/FC as soon as they become apparent.
  • The FM Must be an integral part of the Tower management team translating between Finance & Operations and vice-versa whilst agreeing appropriate actions to deliver the Business Plan whilst mitigating risks and exploiting opportunities.
  • Maximise billing opportunities by reviewing processes and share best practice with the wider Finance team.
  • Work under the direction of the SCFM to price new deals and retenders whilst supporting the Tower CMT and Bids team during retender processes exploring lower cost solutions whilst demonstrating a creative approach to existing delivery.

Other Stakeholder/responsibilities
  • Be able to provide at short notice financial info/analysis/commentary/recommendations relevant to your Tower to any stakeholder. Examples being Cap Res MD/FD/FC, Group Finance or Credit Control.
  • Provide financial support to project teams advising them of the financial impacts to actions they propose to take steering them in the direction of maximising profitability where possible.
  • Work to continually improve management information catering for the ongoing requirements as the business evolves.
  • Assist FD and wider team on investment proposals where necessary.
  • Work with the CMT and operational teams to develop their financial knowledge & understanding.
  • Help with personal/career development of junior members of the Finance team.
