Our client is leading insurer in the UK and as a Senior Fleet Underwriter you'll lead the expansion of fleet underwriting relationships with customers, proactively growing existing business through acting on opportunities to increase revenue and profit. The right candidate will be passionate about furthering a career in a broker facing role, with opportunities to develop a strong team of underwriters. Working closely with Team Leaders you will manage the technical performance of the team and help develop their trading skills

Here are some of the accountabilities of the role:

• Underwrite new business for profitable growth and maximise every opportunity to achieve renewal retention targets

• Understand current and future business demands and implement plans to develop underwriting capability to meet those including identifying areas to enhance our proposition.

• Pro-actively spend time with key customers both internal & external to understand what matters and develop flexible, cost effective solutions to meet their needs ensuring all customer visits add value and are appropriately documented and followed through.

• Ensure that underwriting guidelines and procedures are in place, followed, monitored and reviewed.

• Provide an exceptional service to our Broker Partners by fully understanding their requirements and applying the correct solution for both parties.

• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, ensuring all visits add value, include case prospecting and are appropriately documented and followed through.

• Travelling to other offices and clients is required, driving licence required.

• Act as the senior technical referral point actively and with positivity provide coaching to the underwriters both technical and trading skills to enable them to achieve the new business and renewal targets and to take ownership for their decisions

• Take responsibility for your own personal and professional development and take ownership of your development plan and opportunities to learn.

• Embrace a culture of Continuous Improvement and become an advocate of change for the benefit of the customer

To be successful in being considered you need:

• A minimum of ACII/Diploma or similar level of technical insurance qualification or actively working towards it would be preferential.

• Have at least 5 years Commercial/Commercial Motor Underwriting experience.

• Have great relationship management or business partnering experience. You'll be skillful in communicating difficult messages, in negotiating and in using your technical commercial insurance expertise to bring about the best outcome for the client and the business.

• Have great organisational skills and experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

• Be smart when it comes to numeracy, particularly when analysing financials, underwriting and reporting data. • Be personally resilient, with the ability to challenge positively, be decisive and take ownership of your decisions providing rationale to support.

• You'll be proficient in policy and endorsement wording reviews and have a high competency of using Excel to manipulate data that drives informed decisions.
