Online Payrolls provides managed payroll services in addition to pension, P11D and BACS Bureau services to a large client base across a broad range of sectors. These are spread across the UK and serviced by our team in Bournemouth. The companies range in size from one or two employees to work forces of several hundred. We also act on behalf of a number of accountancy practices, operating as their payroll department and processing their client's payrolls.

Role Description:

The Payroll Trainees assist with the processing of payroll for our diverse clients, as well as supporting with wider office administrative tasks. The role is focussed on professional development and on completion of our internal training plan, payroll responsibilities will increase to support payroll development. The final stage of our Payroll Trainee role is to complete the CIPP Payroll Technician Certificate. This is funded by Online Payrolls as part of a training agreement and will ultimately see the successful trainee being promoted to Payroll Administrator and dealing with more complex clients.

The role demands high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, processing multiple payrolls at any one time as the payroll data is received from the client.

Key Responsibilities:

The following points outline a selection of key responsibilities that would be carried out by the Payroll Trainee:
  • Payroll administration support, including but not limited to, completing RTI submissions, electronic payslips, HMRC correspondence, auditing and creating new starters
  • Embracing company initiatives and contributing to the wider company objectives
  • Liaising with clients by email and telephone, to provide a point of contact for payroll matters
  • Supporting the Operations Director with office administration including procurement, anti-money laundering procedures, answering calls and daily postal tasks.

Key skills required:
  • No payroll experience is necessary, but must have an interest in a payroll career
  • Accurate, methodical and organised as you are often working on multiple payrolls at any one time
  • Strong communication skills via both email and telephone in order to liaise with clients and colleagues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • An ability to work independently and diligently, as well as operating as part of a team

This is a full time position within a dynamic and friendly team. The working hours are Monday to Thursday 08.30-17.00 and 08.30-16.30 on a Friday with one hour for lunch.
