Our client, in the precision engineering sector, are looking for a Mechanically trained Design Manager paying between £55,000-60,000 per annum.

They are based in the East Manchester/Tameside area near Hyde, and are looking for an experienced Design Manager with good experience from within the Oil & Gas sector and/or high pressure equipment.

To be considered for the role they will only look at applications from people who have HIGH PRESSURE COMPONENT/OIL & GAS EXPERIENCE so please bear this in mind when applying.

Job Purpose:

*To oversee a small design office managing workloads of 2 Design Engineers.
*Liaise with management team and Sales & marketing departments on daily basis.
*Help to overcome and provide solutions to any customer product design queries.
*Be 'hands on' and assist creating 3D designs where necessary for current and new products in a timely and efficient manner to meet the needs of existing and future customers. Drawings will need expertise and knowledge of working with high pressure components.
*Assist in creating new product designs and modifications to existing customer queries.


*Oversee 2 Design Engineers and their workloads.
*Assist in developing a new range of component designs to launch to the market.
*Work with marketing to provide information and drawings to support the launch of the new product range.
*Strong experience of design experience within a pressure regulated environment.
*Ensure drawings are accurate at point of manufacture, including any alterations or amendments specific to the order.
*Experienced Autodesk designer.
*Good knowledge and understanding of pressure equipment operation and how it functions.
*Able to create 2D/3D drawings from models and verify design by carrying out relevant calculations.
*Continue to develop and refine valve designs to meet customer and production requirements.
*Maintain knowledge and awareness of competitor products and designs to create competitive advantage to our client.
*Provide relevant and accurate drawings and information to other departments to enable accurate and timely production.
*Maintain product database and technical files to ensure accurate drawings and technical information are up to date and available as required.
*Effectively schedule workload to ensure achievement of agreed time schedules.
*Provide support for the design team as required to meet customer and company requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

*Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
*Management Experience.
*Ability to work with CAD software, Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
*Experience of developing designs for production
