IT Director - Bradford

Harvey Nash have partnered with the University of Bradford to recruit a new IT Director to lead, deliver and shape an existing IT Strategy. With an ambitious organisational vision, IT will be a strong contributor to the achievement of the University strategy and in providing technological solutions to transform customer experience. Reporting to the Directorate this pivotal role will include shaping and delivering an IT strategy and advise the organisation on how technology can support the achievement of organisational wide ambitions, providing resilient infrastructure and enabling business outcomes around Teaching, Research and Knowledge Exchange.

Key deliverables in this role include:

* Leading and managing the information technology function making sure that it has the right capability and resources needed to complete its task

* Work with the Executive team and other key stakeholders to develop and implement the next phase information technology strategy

* Identifying and planning continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and responding to opportunities for change and transformation and developing compelling business cases for change

* To provide authoritative expert advice and guidance at the highest level on the effective development and delivery of information services

* Exploiting existing IT solutions and identifying new and emerging technologies. Advising senior management and proposing action to be taken by the University in response

* Directing and leading major investment projects as project sponsor or technology supplier to ensure that key projects are delivered and outcomes achieved

* Ensuring information technology delivers value for money by measuring and bench-marking the departments performance against best practice and peer institutions

* Working in partnership across the University to ensure that the Service's priorities align with and support the achievement of the University's broader strategic objective

* Developing a high performance team who can support and implement the strategy, providing leadership and line management, ensuring that staff receive regular performance review, guidance on objectives and development opportunities, and that the workload of the team is planned effectively and work delivered in a timely manner and to a high quality.

Key requirements of the role includes:

* Strong leadership skills with experience of presenting and supporting executive meetings

* Proven experience as Head of IT/IT Director (or a similar senior role), leading and directing change

* Experience of setting IT strategy aligned to a complex organisation structure

* Experience reviewing Target Operating Model, and realigning organisation structure to ensure teams are fit for purpose and the right people are in the right roles

* Strong evidence of driving technology and business transformation programmes from business case, through delivery, through to benefits realisation

* Strong leadership skills with experience of presenting and supporting executive meetings

* Experience of managing executive teams and driving conversations with influence at a strategic level, making change transparent throughout the business

* Experience of managing multiple IT and/or other business functions i.e. software development, technical support, systems architecture, audit, planning etc.

* Successful delivery of a major change initiatives e.g. CRM, ERP, HR, Finance

* Sound understanding of underlying technology i.e. networks, security, cloud computing etc.

Key to this will be the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with organisations leaders and other relevant stakeholders. To succeed, the IT Director will have highly developed influencing and negotiating skills and a strong strategic focus and will be commercially aware.
