Project manager with storage tanks and process pipework experience - in particular steel storage tanks, tank seals, pipe-work and steel fabrications. Motivated to attain a high standard of workmanship and detailing plus the ability to plan, prioritise and work to tight deadlines.

To manage (and tender) the design and construction of new steel storage tanks - both site built and shop built; tank seals, foam dams and accessories; refurbishment of existing storage tanks and seals. In carbon and stainless steels. Fixed and floating roofs. For the petroleum, chemical, water and food industries.

Structural steel and general fabrications.

Project management

Responsibility for projects from receipt of order to client hand over. Taking control and responsibility for all project matters concerning design, procurement, financial control, safety, quality, programming etc.

Manage and raise Technical Queries.
Attend meetings with the client, to give SHEQ, technical and progress updates.
Compile material lists and take-offs.


The preparation and management of company procedures and standards and their subsequent implementation. Preparation and management of method statements, risk assessments and temporary works information. Co-ordinate with the SHEQ Team to ensure formal monthly inspections are carried out. Manage any corrective action as required. Arrange inductions for any new starters.


The managing of the contract conditions in with particular attention to payment terms, variations and EOT. Working with standard contract conditions, and also numerous client bespoke conditions. Analysing financial performances and Cost-Value Reconciliations (CVR's).

Planning and Progress

Preparation and progressing of project programmes in Microsoft Project or similar.

Preparation and progressing of project documentation - method statements, risk assessments, WPS's, etc.
Prepare final handover documentation packages for the client.

Quality and Inspection

Preparation and implementation of quality and inspection and test plans and CE marking forms in line with the company and specification requirements.


The control and development of internal and sub-contractor weld procedure qualification records (WPQR), weld procedure specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications to BS EN 288, 287 & 15614 and ASME VIII. Arranging of weld pre-heat and stress relieving as required.

Sub-Contract and services

Preparation of sub-contract enquiry documentation, selection process, control and management.
Management of subcontractors including painting, scaffolding, NDT etc.
Management of plant hire including weld sets, cranes, transport etc.

Procurement and expediting

Development and the issuing of enquiries and requisitions and the subsequent bid appraisal and order placement. Hold pre-start meetings with any sub-contractors and manage their on-site works. Expedite suppliers.


The assistance in all aspects of cost and labour estimating and preparation of tenders.
oInterpretation of new enquiries for suitability for quoting
oPreparation of financial and labour estimates

oLiaising with prospective clients at enquiry and pre-order stages.

Accountable for producing the complete tender submission including labour and material estimates, liaising with Clients, in house departments and subcontractors/suppliers
