The University of Dundee has vacancies arising on the University Court and the Audit & Risk Committee for Lay members.

The University is one of the top 30 Universities in the UK (Guardian 2019 and The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019) and is renowned for the impact of its research and the excellent student experience it offers.

We are a diverse community, with around 3,000 staff and 17,000 students from across the world. We place great value on our diversity and believe that the Court and its committees should be reflective of our staff, students and community.

The Court is the governing body of the University and is responsible for overseeing the University's activities and strategic direction and taking the final decisions on matters fundamental to the University.

The Court comprises 24 members, 10 of whom are University staff and students and 14 of whom are Lay members. Applicants for Lay members are individuals who are external to the University and may come from backgrounds such as the public, private and voluntary sectors. That balance allows the Court to have a wider understanding of the matters it has to decide upon.

The Audit & Risk Committee is a committee of the Court, whose role is to advise the Court in relation to controls, risk management and financial management. On this occasion it is a requirement of the Audit & Risk Committee that the successful candidate has a background and qualification in accountancy.

These two positions are not paid; however reasonable travel expenses from within the UK and dependent care costs are reimbursed.

If you have a commitment to public life and the desire to support the University in achieving its mission to transform lives, locally and globally, by the creation, application and sharing of knowledge, please see or email or by tel: 01382 386459 for further information on how to apply.

The University is committed to diversity in its membership and welcomes applications from all suitably experienced individuals. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals from protected groups that experience underrepresentation in our society. Reasonable adjustments for disability will be implemented for those who may require it.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 9 September 2019. Interviews for the Court will be held on 8 October 2019 and interviews for the Audit & Risk Committee will be held on 30 October 2019.
