Are you a qualified accountant wanting a new challenge? If so, Athwal Resourcing is working with a well-known growing Manufacturing business that has multiple production facilities in the UK and abroad. The group is now looking for an Assistant Financial Controller for its operations based in the Midlands. This newly created position will report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for leading a small accounting team, maintain the accounting records and ensure financial information is prepared to a high standard on a timely basis for both the business and for Group reporting purposes.

This is a critical role for an ambitious individual who is looking to step change their career and take ownership of the management accounts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key duties as an Assistant Financial Controller include:
  • Group Month End Reporting and Financial Control: Reviewing the management accounts for multiple businesses and the preparation of the group financial packs to tight Group reporting deadlines;
  • Financial Control: Ensuring reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including bank account reconciliations and postings;
  • KPI Reporting: Preparation of the Dashboard of KPI's, both financial and operational for analysis and distribution to local management as well as external stakeholders;
  • Cash Flow: Short-term working capital management and cash flow forecasting;
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts to Group for the subsidiaries;
  • Staff Management: Day to day management of a team of part-qualified staff. Including mentoring, developing and identifying training needs;
  • Operational Excellence: Assist operational managers with the Budgeting process and aid decision making;
  • Stock Management: Involved in the annual stock review and the improvement of the stock management system;
  • External Reporting: Preparation of statutory accounts with full responsibility for VAT and tax;
  • Ad-hoc Projects: Involvement with continuous improvement projects, monitoring and reporting cost savings and R&D claims.

You will be :
  • Qualified Accountant, ACCA, ACMA/CIMA or ACA;
  • Have hands-on post qualified experience within an operational Manufacturing site, ideally multisided;
  • Have the ability to work in a fast pace environment;
  • Have managed a small finance team;
  • Experience of working with ERP systems and excellent analytical skills and advanced Excel skills;
  • Have a working knowledge of cost analysis and product profitability;
  • Be able to communicate with all levels of the business, both with finance and non-finance staff and have the ability to influence and manage stakeholders;
  • Have high attention to detail and ability to work to accurate & tight deadlines;
  • Be a proactive and self-motivated individual who is capable of taking ownership of undertaking new projects.
