About the role
Would you like an exciting opportunity to make a change to the lives of families and young people in Surrey? If so why not join our Childrens Service Information Governance Team as FOI Officer. Reporting to the Team Leaders you will be able to demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

Our team deals with an increasing number of Freedom of Information, Data Protection Act, GDPR and other Information Sharing requests, as well as providing advice, training and guidance to staff across the Childrens, Families, Life Long Learning and Communications Directorate together with managing customer expectations.

You will liaise with professionals both within Social Care and with other agencies; keep track of information, update and maintain spreadsheets and databases; ensuring timescales are met;

You will need to be highly organised and willing to take responsibility and use initiative; be comfortable in setting your own priorities and meeting deadlines. You will work collaboratively with team members to monitor the team inbox, log requests and escalate to a manager when necessary to provide a high quality and effective Information Governance administration service.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential along with a high level of written and oral communication skills. You will have experience of working with highly confidential information in a customer focused environment.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a solid background in administration
  • Have an understanding of the Freedom of Information Act and GDPR
  • Has experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Is confident, organised and able to implement a proactive approach to your work
  • You must have excellent IT skills and be proficient in using Microsoft Office
