We have an opportunity for a Biology Technician to provide efficient and effective practical and administrative support to the Biology department. You will join us on a part time basis (working 30 hours per week, term time only) and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £11,149 - £12,432 per annum.

As our Biology Technician you will be expected to undergo such training as may be reasonably required from time to time by College Management, to participate in whole-College and departmental training events and briefing sessions as appropriate, and to use such equipment and technological aids as are made available to you to ensure the timely and accurate execution of your duties.

Key responsibilities of our Biology Technician:

- Carry out the provision of the department's practical lesson requirements

- Ensure the timely preparation, setting up, cleaning and re-securing of materials & equipment for use in practical lessons

- Provide technical support to teachers and students including guidance on safety or equipment

- Trial practical activities and to work with teachers to decide how best to demonstrate experiments

- Carry out the safe disposal of biological and chemical materials

- Monitor and maintain stock control, ordering materials and equipment as required

- Undertake departmental risk and COSHH assessments, keeping updated with current Health and Safety regulations and good practice

- Be responsible for the prep room and storage areas and the organisation of equipment

- Undertake the testing of electrical equipment according to standards and schedules set down by Management

- Provide support for College open events and school liaison activities

What we're looking for in our Biology Technician:

- Educated to at least A level standard or equivalent in Biology

- Proficient in IT
- Experience of stock control and maintaining an inventory

- An interest in science and education

- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety including COSHH regulations

- Ability to produce risk assessments

- Ability to prepare and maintain a range of equipment

- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of students
