Are you looking for an all-round finance role within a busy accounts function? If so, Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant based near Cradley Heath for a company that has undergone a rapid period of growth. The Assistant Accountant role will be reporting directly to the Company Accountant to provide a range of finance support to assist in covering the functions of sales ledger, purchase ledger, and cash management. The role includes dealing with customers and suppliers on a daily basis in a busy office environment and requires the need to be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively manage a varied workload, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

You will have exposure to:
  • Sales Order Processing - checking order details with customer records as necessary;
  • Sales Ledger - raising invoices, processing payments, chasing money due in;
  • Purchase ledger - processing invoices, raising bacs payments, supplier reconciliations and ensuring payments to suppliers;
  • VAT Returns;
  • Bank Reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations;
  • CIS Returns & subcontractor payments;
  • Processing the petty cash and credit card expenses and credit card reconciliation;
  • Processing Payroll on BrightPay;
  • Accruals and prepayments along with posting of journals and depreciation;
  • Dealing with general enquiries from customers & suppliers;
  • General administration duties within the finance department.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be AAT level 3 (minimum) or QBE;
  • Have previous experience working in a busy accounts environment; including accounts receivable and accounts payable experience;
  • Experience of expense processing;
  • Maths and English GCSE level C or above or equivalent grade;
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Office especially Word and Excel;
  • Previous use and knowledge of Sage is essential and the ability to quickly learn new software;
  • A self-starter who can manage multiple tasks;
  • Self-confident to be able to communicate across all levels of the business and with external parties.
