Based in either West Cumbria or Risley we are seeking to recruit 4 Business Case Specialists who will be responsible for preparing robust and succinct business cases, which justify the necessary investment in programmes and projects (and related acquisitions) and demonstrates that they are worthwhile, affordable, achievable and deliver value for money for the taxpayer.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Essential
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Ability to work in conjunction with a range of internal and external colleagues, to develop the strategic, commercial, economic, financial and achievability cases that will inform a business case
* Ability to plan the range of inputs required and manage their timely delivery from a range of stakeholders
* Ability to write and/or managing the drafting of business cases for large and complex programmes and or projects
* Proven experience of writing coherent and compelling business cases with concise and compelling arguments which are understandable to a lay-person outside of a specialist field
* Proven experience of adapting to unfamiliar or complex subject matter
* Proven experience of building and effectively managing key stakeholder relationships.
* Has an inclusive and collaborative approach
* Proven experience of operating in a project environment and fully understand what is involved in project delivery
* Working at pace and to tight deadlines, ensuring attention to detail
* Experience of applying HM Treasury Green Book guidance and the 5 Case model to writing business case
Desirable
* Proven track record of end-to-end development and writing of business cases
* Experience of working in a politically sensitive or highly complex environment
* Proven financial planning and/or investment appraisal experience
* Project management skills
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant
