We are currently recruiting for a Bodyshop Vehicle Technician to be based within our Ipswich Branch.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To authorise repair estimates up to £1500inc VAT or at team leaders discretion.
  • To check and authorise repair invoices.
  • Update drivers and policyholders (where applicable).
  • Liaise with field engineering companies.
  • Liaise with customers and clients.
  • Back-up support of processing engineers reports and updates.
  • Valuing, processing and recording total loss vehicles ready for settlement.
  • Assisting with initial telephone enquiries and maintenance of engineering mailbox if required.
  • Instruction of vehicle salvage.
  • Issue standard letters as directed.
  • Comply with all Gallagher Bassett and office procedures.

Job Competency Requirements, site specific:
  • Technically experienced from either a bodywork or mechanical background.
  • A good knowledge of the motor insurance industry and its typical contractual procedures including types of cover.
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle parts, vehicle types, makes and models.
  • Good understanding of suppliers contracts such as network repairers, field engineers, hire companies etc.
  • Displays willingness to learn and develop knowledge of engineering and repair methods.
  • Good understanding of the company's in-house claims system CARAT and a good working knowledge of all other systems used as part of the role including; Audatex, Glassmatix, eScribe and industry vehicle valuation tools.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies and trends in the industry.
