Infrastructure Engineer required to work with a Government department based in Corsham. This is an inital 3 month contract, Out of Scope of IR35, paying up to £525 per day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as 2nd/3rd line support for incidents, problems and changes to solutions and services. Including Data Centre Maintenance tasks such as installations, replacing cables and components and escorting / supervising visitors.
  • Provide specialist technical support and assistance to projects ensuring delivery of requisite non- functional requirements and to continual service improvement.
  • Responsible for preparations and support of IT Operations solutions and services, physical or virtual, according to industry and organisational best practices standards, service requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) throughout the lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to projects.
  • Create and maintain records, designs and databases as and when required.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members and assist in the delivery of provision of first class service, and consistent levels of capability available as required by the organisation.

You will have:
  • A comprehensive understanding of Data Centre Infrastructure, with experience in specifying Data Infrastructure requirements (cabling, racks, power)
  • Experienced in undertaking equipment maintenance tasks including installations, replacing cables/components and accessories.
  • Experience and successful track record of operation of products, services and techniques used to operate network services in large scale organisations
  • Knowledge of the operations techniques for network services to support data at protective marking levels
  • Experience of network security products and countermeasure techniques, including firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN's), encryption and authentication techniques
  • Knowledge of Cisco data-centre products, including ACI and Cisco CCNP/CCDP certification or equivalent experience/skills

Essential Skills Required:
  • Experience of network security products and countermeasure techniques, including firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN's), encryption and authentication techniques
  • Knowledge in TCP/IP routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP
  • Knowledge in common network services, including Directory Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), and load-balancing techniques
  • Knowledge of Cisco data-centre products, including ACI and Cisco CCNP/CCDP certification or equivalent experience/skills
  • Knowledge of server virtualisation techniques, Network Functions Virtualised (NFV), Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Software Defined WAND (SD-WAN)
  • Awareness of next generation firewalls/application firewalls
