The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Programme Finance to join their team within the Finance department. The wider finance team consists of circa 30 employees, Programme Finance is a team of 8 and are responsible for business partnering, financial control and support for some of the major science and operational programmes within UKAEA.

The role of Head of Programme Finance is to act as a trusted business partner to these major programmes (business units) and business development team, providing financial advice and insight to ensure budget delivery, sound decision making and to drive future planning, supporting acquisition of new funding streams and ensuring the incorporation of this into the financial framework.

This position will ensure that the programmes are in full compliance with relevant standards, grant terms and that related external reporting requirements are met. It will deliver the core financial processes accurately and on time, budgeting, long term planning, forecasting and period closure. As a senior member of the team you will champion collaboration across finance, strengthen the role of business partnering and a focus on continuous improvement of processes and systems.

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built.
