Becoming a Finance Team Leader with Travel & Events

An exciting and varied opportunity to join our Travel & Events business having day to day management of our York Finance team.

*This role is initially offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis but there is a view to permanency*

What you will do:
  • Act as the go to person for Finance queries in the absence of the Senior Finance Manager who is based off site.
  • Oversee, mentor and support the finance team in York including managing holidays and overtime, assisting with appraisals, development and recruitment.
  • Review/develop/document finance processes and assist in best practice initiatives.
  • Perform duties across the York finance function where necessary to relieve workload and ensure correct prioritisation.
  • Complete month end procedures
  • Duties to include (but not limited to);
    • Checking venue invoices for accuracy against booking file
    • Raising queries with venue/client where necessary, agree amounts due and obtain refunds/substantiating documentation
    • Raising invoices to clients for meetings and events booked
    • Deal with customer queries on invoices raised
    • Process advance and deposit payments
    • Chase venues for invoices, credit notes and credit card receipts
    • File booking files once invoiced. Deal with creditor enquiries
    • Carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit, purpose and title of the job.
  • Comply with company procedures and work initiatives.

Comply with all company procedures and work instructions including ISO 9001:2015, EN 14001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013.

Your experience will include:
  • AAT qualified or equivalent (QBE may be considered)
  • Significant experience of people/team management
  • Transactional finance experience in a corporate team environment
  • Attention to detail & high level of accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Persistence in problem solving
  • Flexibility to handle new and changing problems.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Self motivated and keen to succeed.
  • Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining accuracy
