Probate and Estates Executive


Salary £35,000 - £38,000

Probate Estates Executive: Due to impressive commercial growth an experienced Probate and Estates Executive is required to offer advice and assistance to high net worth clients, both in the UK and worldwide, in relation to Will drafting, Estate and Trust administration, Inheritance Tax planning and Power of Attorney matters for the trust corporation of a leading financial advisory & wealth management consultancy.

As part of a small friendly team of Estate Executives, including STEP and CILEx members, the successful candidate will be required to advise on the preparation of Wills, including Inheritance Tax considerations, and produce Will documents for clients to review and sign. In addition, they will be required to draft and advise on the preparation of Powers of Attorney and manage clients' affairs under LPAs/EPAs. Furthermore, they will be expected to administer a portfolio of Estates and Trusts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Advise on lifetime Inheritance Tax planning through trusts, gifting etc.
  • In dealing with estate administration, the applicant will be expected to meet the family and talk through with them the steps required to obtain a Grant of Probate, meet all taxation obligations and distribute the funds under the terms of the Will.
  • Where that distribution is to a Trust, the applicant will be expected to administer that Trust taking care of liabilities to income Tax, capital gains tax and inheritance Tax, including minimising those liabilities, where possible.
  • Acting for clients under a Power of Attorney where the Company has been appointed as Attorney.
  • Case loads will involve ongoing administration of established Trusts.
  • Take full responsibility for clients with no direct supervision after a period of integration and training on specific systems and practices within the office.

Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in a similar Estates advisory role
  • Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners membership would be useful but not essential
  • Knowledge of Express Wills software - desirable but not essential.
  • Exposure to foreign law and domicile matters in relation to non-residents and former non-residents - desirable but not essential.
  • The ability to network, cross refer and market the company's suite of services in broad terms
  • A working knowledge of EU Succession Regulation and Domicile would be an advantage.
