My client has a fantastic opportunity for an ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS MANAGER to assist with and improve the production process at their manufacturing plant in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage engineering applications resources and project manage the following engineering tasks;1. The design of sales application projects.2. Value engineering3. Replacement of obsolete parts4. Competitor bench marking5. The creation and maintenance of selection software6. Continuous Technical accuracy of product literature, spares lists, item masters and BOM's7. Product standardisation8. Engineering document control• Liaise with customers / commercial and the production projects team and make detailed plans to ensure projects are completed within pre-set deadlines.• Review and improve the company's engineering application project procedures for efficiency improvements and in line with changes to international standards and regulations.• Oversee the management of Client witness testing ensuring product requirements, set up and pre-test/tests are carried out with assistance from the manufacturing department where required.• Maintain good working practices regarding safety and housekeeping.
ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in the design of sales application projects• Consult with suppliers to assess new components, materials and methods of design to reduce costs and remove slow moving / obsolete stock for application projects• Coordinate and assist in the creation of BOM's, wiring diagrams, 2D / 3D drawings, BIM modelling and any other manufacturing information required for production.• Coordinate and assist in the preparation of sketches, layouts and preliminary costing of prototypes• Coordinate and assist in the completion of testing in line with engineering application project requirements and in accordance with the Development Engineering procedures.• Assisting manufacturing with 'root cause' analysis and ensure procedures / processes are updated to ensure repeats of the problem do not happen
SALES SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Liaise with sales engineering and customers for specifications, lead-times and costs for the completion of application projects.• Ensure all the technical documentation requirements of customers are completed, this includes drawings, spares list and MRB's etc.• Assist the commercial department in the creation of marketing material based on the successes of application projects• Support the requirements of new product development.• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports• Support the needs of manufacturing and technical services when appropriate• Provide product support to other departments.• Comply with all the company procedures including ISO9001 and ISO14001 management systems.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering * Use of 3D CAD (ideally AutoDesk Inventor)* Ideally have knowledge of Thermo dynamics, Electrical Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Refrigeration, Noise / Sound and Materials* Familiar with procedures on building sites including Risk Assessments and Method Statements* Ability to work remotely using own initiative when required* Must be computer literate including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite* Ability to cope under pressure.* Full UK driving licence.* Good technical knowledge on refrigeration and air conditioning systems.* Electrical and controls knowledge* Must be an effective verbal and written communicator.
