Responsible for the day-to-day management, technical leadership and development of the IT infrastructure team, ensuring exemplary service and high levels of customer satisfaction at all times.

Description

Key responsibilities:
  • To provide technical leadership and supervision of the IT Infrastructure Team, ensuring staffing levels are maintained to meet the customer requirements.
  • Ensuring active performance management of the IT Infrastructure Team providing timely feedback and recognising opportunities for development and support with under-performance identified and monitored.
  • To ensure KPIs relating to service availability, responsiveness and customer satisfaction are achieved or surpassed.
  • To ensure timely and efficient reactive and proactive fault diagnostics and resolution of all incidents relating to the IT Infrastructure.
  • To ensure regular disaster recover testing is carried out according to pre-agreed schedules.
  • To ensure effective and timely communication with all affected stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of an incident, problem, change or project seeking and measuring feedback and customer satisfaction throughout.
  • To ensure that all team processes and procedures are documented and kept updated in an appropriate location with relevant data collated to provide operational reports to the Head of IT, all in line with GDPR.
  • To implement appropriate asset management controls for all IT Infrastructure, ensuring warranty extensions and equipment replacement are planned and are aligned within budgetary constraints.
  • To ensure that the IT Infrastructure remains safe and secure from cyber security threats, dealing with any potential security incidents as they arise.
  • To ensure that changes to any IT Infrastructure service are conducted in a controlled manner, following approvals processes, and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Identify, document and action team professional development plans and training opportunities. Manage development through the employee performance review system and regular one to one meetings.
  • Initiate positive change to streamline/improve processes and increase customer satisfaction based on the monitoring and measuring of collated data.
  • To design and continuously improve operational processes and procedures that will maximize the efficiency of the team and contribute to the operational efficiency of the whole IT Services team backed up by active research in technology and market trends.
  • Actively contribute to the development and improvement of the IT Service by horizon scanning for appropriate new technologies and contributing to Service Improvement plans.
  • To be responsible own continuous professional development seeking out developmental opportunities.

Profile

Successful candidate:
  • Qualified to degree level in IT, Computer Studies or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years' experience of Incident Management - Managing IT incidents including business expectations and communication.
  • Two years' experience of supporting, configuring and troubleshooting IT infrastructure on a campus LAN with multiple physical sites.
  • Two years' experience of supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting a VOIP telephone system with SIP connectivity.At least 2 years' experience supporting servers in a VMware Vsphere environment.
  • At least 2 years' experience of supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting a campus wireless LAN.
  • Experience of supporting, configuring and troubleshooting HSRP and alternative resilient routing protocol configurations.
  • Knowledge of server room/data centre technologies and best practices
  • Experience with troubleshooting infrastructure communication issues
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Nexus and ASA equipment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Active Directory Group Policy Management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Server based operating systems
  • Must have a full UK driving license, access to a vehicle with business insurance, and be willing to travel between College sites.
