General responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of products, raw materials, consumables and all the other goods and services necessary to achieve and meet the demands of our customer base. Delivering a standard of excellence in every aspect of the role is critical and communicating effectively with the Sales Team, Office Manager and Operations Manager is a pre-requisite of the role. You will be responsible for controlling costs in all areas of buying. In addition, you will also be identifying areas of inefficiency and instigating corrective action. We are looking for an individual who can continue the close working relationships we have with our suppliers whilst not being afraid to challenge them as required.

Essential duties

Control the Purchase of Hose, Ducting and Fittings, Raw Materials, Consumables and relevant Services such as Carriers and Freight Forwarders.

* Managing stock/product including the updating of inventory to ensure appropriate levels are maintained

* Effectively managing the costs of products/raw materials and consumables

* Diligently controlling Product Codes and the creation of Bill of Materials within Sage 200

* Cementing the strong working relationships we currently have with our suppliers and negotiating with them to achieve advantageous pricing levels

* Ensuring information regarding the supply chain is up to date

* Analysing sales data and applying this knowledge to make insightful purchasing decisions

* Proactively chasing queries, negotiating payment terms and co-ordinating purchasing activity with the wider office-based team

* Working with the Quality Manager to deal with any quality issues. Escalating any concerns to both the supplier and company management

* Being involved with the Quality Management System by managing complaints and Supplier Non-Conformances

* Maximise your personal contribution within the organisation through self-development

* The ability and willingness to travel on occasion if required by the business would be beneficial

* GCSE English (grade C or above)

* GCSE Mathematics (grade C or above)

* A-level standard education or vocational equivalent would be desirable.
