TITLE: Control Panel Design Engineer



Purpose of your role:

Reporting to the Electrical and Controls Manager, the role of Control Panel Design Engineer is responsible for the designing control panels for CambridgeHOK projects. The Panel Designer will create and issue design drawings and specification to allow panel build and manufacture for all projects by the inhouse panel build engineer. The role is to work closely with all service, controls and panel build engineers to ensure projects are completed within acceptable time scales and budgets. You will liaise with other members of the design, factory and operations team to ensure all control panel requirements are met.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Provide sales/estimating and design teams with panel concept designs and costs as required.

* Produce detailed designs to allow Panel Build Engineer to manufacture panels to specific design detail. Complete and issue full drawing and specification packages.

* Develop and issue full descriptions of operation, points lists and panel layout drawings.

* Manage own programme and work loads to meet delivery deadline in line with project programmes. Work closely with Build Engineers to ensure products match design requirements.

* Work closely with the electrical, mechanical, controls and irrigation designers and the Operations Team to ensure project controls are delivered on time and budget. Help design teams integrate controls and panel details onto overall project design drawings and scope.

* Take ownership of panel build costs and ensure that they are developed in design and met during build phase.

* Ensure the needs of software and commissioning engineers are taken into account in panel design.

* Take full responsibility of control panel design using experience and lessons learnt from previous projects.

* Assist in the procurement of parts and materials for control panels with the Operations Team.

* Create bills of materials to allow procurement of panel materials and components and ensure designs meet all required budgets.

* Use documented change details from manufacture and site to produce as built details match delivered products.

* Work alongside the Operations Team providing technical support for panel installation as required. Being on hand for any questions or problems as they occur.

* Liaise with any sub contract panel building contractors as required. Ensuring quality standards are maintained and all relevant standards and legislation is adhered to.

* Provide technical support to all CambridgeHOK operatives as well as third party engineers and clients as required.

* When required, design modification to new and existing control panels/controls/equipment on site or in the factory.

* Any other reasonable tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Experience of design, build and installation and commissioning of controls systems essential.

* Knowledge and understanding of control systems essential.

* Strong technical experience essential.
