MASS are looking to welcome a Software Engineer, with experience in Radio Frequency (RF) applications, to our team providing in-hangar depth support to the NATO Joint Electronic Warfare Core Staff (NATO JEWCS) fleet of Electronic Warfare training assets. The successful applicant would be expected to undertake the following tasks:

Act as the LabVIEW subject matter expert providing development, maintenance and in house training support in order to ensure the continued availability, utility and relevance of EW training assets.

Undertake integrated software / hardware modifications in support of projects that enhance EW training asset capabilities.

Develop and maintain control and Graphical User Interface (GUI) / Man Machine Interface (MMI) software.

Perform configuration management for customer-owned source code and other bespoke EW application software.

Occasionally deploy to exercise locations or NATO platforms to support trials and evaluation of the operation and effectiveness of EW training assets.

Mandatory Skill Requirements.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience of LabVIEW in order to create bespoke control solutions and user interfaces. In addition, applicants should have relevant experience of developing, integrating and maintaining systems software. Specifically, applicants should be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience and qualifications in the following:

National Instruments LabVIEW Core 1 & 2 or higher.

Ability to read text based programming languages C and Python.

The successful applicant should be an experienced technician, able to respond flexibly to emerging challenges, and confidently productive with minimal direct supervision or support. The role requires professional judgement, technical knowledge, experience, and understanding of the organisation's mission to be applied to resolving software / hardware problems and implementing changes to meet customer requirements. The successful applicant will be a well-motivated, pro-active individual with good communication and interpersonal skills who holds or is able to qualify for NATO Secret (NS) Security Clearance.

Desirable Skill Requirements.

In addition, experience of working in an environment where they have gained a high degree of competency in working with communications / radar sub-systems and associated test equipment (Vector Network Analyser, Spectrum Analyser, Power Meter, Frequency Counter and Synthesiser) and the ability to identify and rectify faults down to component level. The following experience would be highly desirable:

National Instruments LabVIEW Developer.

Evaluation and test of RF systems or components.

Digital / analogue communication signals and associated protocols.

Software Defined Radios such as the Universal Software Radio Peripheral.

Single board computers such as Arduino / Raspberry PI.
