Tax Assistant - Practice

£23,000 - £28,000 per annum + benefits + support with ATT

Full-time and part-time considered

Due to recent acquisitions, a growing independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors, acting for over 500 clients ranging from high net worth individuals to large international companies, are now looking to appoint a Tax Assistant to assist the tax partner and accounting team in the management and completion of the firm's portfolio of Self-Assessment Tax Returns and VAT Returns. Based in Sunningdale, this is an exciting opportunity to 'make the role your own' within the tax department and to gain experience in other areas of the practice.

This Tax Assistant role would ideally suit candidates with previous practice experience looking for a new challenge but applications would be considered from candidates from other backgrounds to start in a trainee role.


·Preparing income tax returns and income tax computations for review

·Preparing VAT returns and reconciliation workings for review

·Dealing with correspondence and liaising where appropriate with HMRC

·Working to strict deadlines and reporting to the office manager and partners

·Assisting the tax partner to ensure the smooth running of the department

·Managing the tax compliance of personal and VAT clients

·Preparing and submitting tax returns of clients which may include Capital Gains Tax, and PAYE

·Bringing tax planning opportunities to attention of manager and partners

·Ensuring professional standards are met at all times

·Dealing directly with clients face to face, by telephone and written communication

·Identifying any tax anomalies and bringing these to the attention of the manager or partners

Tax Assistant - About You

•Experience within a practice environment

•Focused on a career in practice and gain relevant qualifications where appropriate

•Have good IT skills; be a competent user of MS Word Excel and Outlook

•Good working knowledge of tax software (desirable)

•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

•Good team player - small close-knit group working to get the best outcome at all times for clients

About The Benefits
