Applications Manager

We are supporting our client in their search for n Applications Manager, who will be able to manage engineering applications resources and project manage engineering tasks

Relevant Job Titles:

Applications Manager, Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Business Manager, Technical Support Manager, Product Manager, Design Manager

Key Responsibilities

Project Management Experience:

Manage engineering applications resources and project manage the following engineering tasks:

o The design of products and sales application projects.

o Value engineering

o Replacement of obsolete parts

o Competitor bench marking

o The creation and maintenance of selection software

o Continuous Technical accuracy of product literature, spares lists, item masters and BOM's

o Product standardisation

o Engineering document control

o Liaise with customers/commercial and the production projects team and make detailed plans to ensure projects are completed within pre-set deadlines.

o Review and improve the company's engineering application project procedures for efficiency improvements and in line with changes to international standards and regulations.

o Oversee the management of Client witness testing ensuring product requirements, set up and pre-test/tests are carried out with assistance from the manufacturing department where required.

o Maintain good working practices regarding safety and housekeeping.

Engineering responsibilities

o Assist in the design of products and sales application projects

o Consult with suppliers to assess new components, materials and methods of design to reduce costs and remove slow moving / obsolete stock for application projects

o Coordinate and assist in the creation of BOM's, wiring diagrams, 2D / 3D drawings, BIM modelling and any other manufacturing information required for production.

o Coordinate and assist in the preparation of sketches, layouts and preliminary costing of prototypes

o Coordinate and assist in the completion of testing in line with engineering application project requirements and in accordance with the Development Engineering procedures.

o Assisting manufacturing with 'root cause' analysis and ensure procedures/processes are updated to ensure repeats of the problem do not happen

Sales support responsibilities

o Liaise with sales engineering and customers for specifications, lead-times and costs for the completion of application projects.

o Ensure all the technical documentation requirements of customers are completed, this includes drawings, spares lists and MRB's etc.

o Assist the commercial department in the creation of marketing material based on the successes of application projects

Other support and administrative responsibilities

o Support the requirements of new product development.

o Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports

o Support the needs of manufacturing and technical services when appropriate

o Provide product support to other departments.

o Comply with all the company procedures including ISO9001 and ISO14001 management systems.


o The revenue as a result of Sales engineering projects is to increase as a result of increased sales and reduced project costs.

o No customer complaints regarding the product specification and associated technical documentation

o All Sales application projects are delivered on time and budget

o No slow moving / obsolete stock is purchased as a result of sales engineering projects.

o Experience required:


HNC Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
