We are looking for a Mechanical Production Engineer for a position with our client, a large electronic assembly company in Derby.

Key Reponsibilities of the Role
  • Create & update BOM with Systems assembly / mechanical components in company ERP.
  • Resolve technical queries (plastics, metalwork, fixings, etc).
  • Assist with the NPI (New Product Introduction) process.
  • Assist with the NPI process
  • Assist with the ECN process (Engineering Chain)
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to drive efficient practices and provide assistance
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and 3rd parties
  • Review and implement customer requirements
  • Ensure integrity of all documentation & customer requirements are documented
  • Interface with company systems
  • Identify and solve problems where appropriate and necessary
  • Assist, coach & train members where necessary and appropriate
  • Liaise with other departmental heads and board of directors
  • Carry out other tasks as appropriate

Desirable Technical Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience of using CAD data for electronics manufacturing
  • Previous experience of an EPN Process
  • A good knowledge and understanding of Surface Mount Technology
  • Previous experience of working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
  • Previous experience of a New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • HNC/HND in Electronics
  • Degree in Engineering / Electronics / Manufacturing (Desirable)

Essential Skills
  • Previous experience of working within an Electronics manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of systems / mechanical assembly processes and components
  • Previous experience of working with ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
  • Previous experience of importing and changing Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and use of own initiative
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently and within a team

The hours of working are optional, either 37.5 or 40 hours per week (40 hour contract includes two 15 min breaks).

Salary is between £25,000 and £35,000 and is dependant on skills and experience.
