Job Role: UX Designer/Senior UX Designer

Reporting to: Head of UX Design

Location: Bristol and Cirencester

A market leading, software house looking for multiple hires to expand their UX team. UX is a key focus and is highly valued within this team, to the point the sales people lead their pitches on the usability of their software.

The UX designer will work autonomously as the sole UX designer for one product, alongside the other UXers who will also be responsible for seperate products. You will be managing all research, UX design and testing activities. Alongside the development team and product manager, they will also work closely with a visual designer.

My client takes inspiration from Lean UX and are fostering a culture of experimentation where they take a 'sense and respond' approach, testing their designs and measuring the impact of what they release.

My client are looking for 3 thoughtful, empathetic and experienced UX designers to help them to carry out this work. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to a fast growing and ambitious company and shape the way the UX team matures.

This role can be based in either their Bristol or Cirencester office, as well as remotely when needed. Some travel may be required for conducting user research and testing sessions, and occasional team meetings in Cirencester.

  • Conduct research to inform design decisions. Planning and executing research projects, drawing on research from various areas of the business: analytics, customer insight, help-desk interviews and competitor analysis.
  • Leading collaborative design workshops.
  • Information architecture.
  • Mapping customer and user journeys and developing personas.
  • Sketching, concept creating and wireframing.
  • Creating clickable prototypes.
  • Running usability testing sessions.
  • Assist in the creation of user stories to feed into a SCRUM based agile development team.

To be successful in the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Passion for designing quality products with a great user experience.
  • Awareness of key psychological principles that inform good design
  • Good working knowledge of digital accessibility
  • You'll need to work with visual designers, developers, product owners, marketing, and content managers to define product experience and champion the user.
  • Excellent communication skills: you will need to be able to explain, present and communicate your ideas clearly to a range of different stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills: ideally, you should be able to write excellent digital copy and have a good awareness of tone of voice.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience of conducting research
  • Experience of wireframing and prototyping tools (Axure, OmniGraffle etc.)
  • Experience of usability testing
