SWGR are currently seeking a Rail Centre Labour Manager for our Derby office

This role, will support the Rail Operations Director in all areas of his responsibility within the region, to ensure the effective coordination and utilisation of all workforce personnel and to deliver this service within company budget guidelines and to the satisfaction of client's requirements, timescales and expectations.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

* Effectively liaise with and manage all client contracts to develop working relationships and to ensure at all times the delivery of a quality led professional manpower supply service.

* Proactive business development promoting the company capabilities to generate new business/revenue streams from existing and all other potential new clients.

* Promote "Supplier of Choice" through in depth understanding of current and future client requirements and offer solutions to supply the required skills for all contracts/projects.

* Monitor the market and effectiveness of the competition to supply existing contracts to identify potential new opportunities to generate new business and revenues.

* Assess all vacancy requirements as they arise for contingent track labour and for

ad hoc labour and to make sure they are filled with competent qualified personnel.

* Contact all personnel usually by phone and allocate them to contracts and ensure that

confirmation of instructions has been obtained e.g. by phone or text message.

* Organise transport and pick up locations that not only meet the company and client

requirements but takes into consideration vehicle utilisation and fuel costs.

* Carry out site visits to monitor that the Company Health, Safety and Environmental

Plan is being effectively implemented.

* Assist with timesheet processing data to ensure applications are correct and on

time prior to dispatching and help with any general queries regarding timesheets.

* To ensure the competence and quality of the workforce supplied by regular visits to the worksites on which they are placed.

* Ensure all personnel supplied are inducted and issued with the correct equipment and PPE, to enable them to carry out the designated work in a safe manner.

* Investigate all no shows and report findings to the Regional Operations

* To liaise with the Sentinel co-ordinator on a regular basis to ensure status of work force competencies are up to date and plan any training/assessment requirement to achieve maximum utilisation of personnel.

* If required, the post holder will be expected to undertake site duties to ensure that we are able to meet and satisfy the requirements of the clients.

* Ensure the cost effective use of company vehicles and fuel.

* Ensure all Health and Safety responsibilities are carried out effectively, including Safety/Site visits, examine causes of any accidents, investigate workers' complaints, etc.

Knowledge, Experience and Education Requirements

* Relevant Network Rail Sentinel Skills Competencies, knowledge and experience.

* Impressive, demonstrable track record of skills/experience gained within a similar position within fast paced, highly demanding and challenging organisations.

* Specialised training/experience in resource management, manpower planning, SSOW Planning, business liaison, account management and customer services
