Our client seeks a Senior Finance Officer to be a technical expert within the Business Partnering team in their Finance Department.

1. A willingness to serve offices in both Eastbourne (predominantly) but also Lewes, their companies and their stakeholders in accordance with council's corporate plan, company business plans, priorities and values.

2. To act as a financial advisor to budget managers within designated
areas for the efficient and effective management of specific budgets.

Key Tasks.

1. To provide budget managers with accountancy support to help them
with their budget responsibilities including providing financial ad hoc
reporting for the efficient and effective management of their specific
budgets, providing advice on the identification of efficiencies and robust
outturn reporting.

2. To assist in the overall budget setting process, including MTFS,
Service and Financial Planning or Company Business Plans, carrying
out responsibilities in accordance with the agreed timetable.

3. To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, changes in accounting
standards, tax requirements, guidance related to the specific team.

4. To assist the Principal Accountant and Accountant in the proactive
review of all service delivery matters and the improvement to suitable
standards for internal and external audit compliance. To ensure all
audit recommendations related to the post's specialist field are
implemented.

5. To assist with the effective monthly monitoring and reporting of annual
revenue budgets against spend to enable expenditure and income to
be delivered to target.

6. To develop simple financial models that examine the underlying
income and expenditure patterns, predicting the future position of the
business unit.

7. To represent the Finance service and deputise for more senior finance
officers when required at working parties and project teams. Take
responsibility for the financial aspects on allocated projects and work in
partnership with services and third party consultants in the assessment
and review of business plans, and identify the financial implications and
benefit realisations. Ensure the Service and Financial Plan or the
relevant company business plan includes all associated costs or
savings.

8. To ensure all allocated statistical, government and other returns, and
FOI information is provided in accordance with deadlines.

9. Carry out ad-hoc accounting or other projects as required to meet the
demands of the service.
