1DescriptionVacancy: Project Engineer (Mechanical)Location: RoystonJob Family: Engineering.Description: Job purposeJohnson Matthey is currently seeking a Mechanical bias Project Engineer who will support on a major new project at their Royston site. This role will ensure that the Mechanical scope of the new project follows JM and appropriate standards and regulations.Focus will be on delivery of a plant that is: Safe to operate, fully documented, and efficient to Operate and Maintain. This new project will form part of an upper tier COMAH facility and as such will have an emphasis on ATEX, Functional safety, EHS Critical equipment etc.This role also includes working closely with the JM Mechanical Maintenance dept to ensure alignment with requirements.Principal accountabilities• Reports to the Maintenance Manager and informs the 3CR project design from a practical mechanical perspective through the entire project lifecycle to ensure reliability, supportability and ease of maintenance is built-in from the outset.• Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure adherence to JM policies (including HR/EHS/Security).• Responsible for the provision of timely advice on the most appropriate selection of plant and equipment to ensure: o Standardisation, utilising preferred suppliers where possible o Designed for accessibility with the maintainer in mind o Equipment variations are minimised to provide commonality, interchangeability and minimise critical stock holding requirementso Gravity is used for material transfer to minimise moving parts and minimise the need for maintenance • Responsible for the coordination and collation of the maintenance response to focused mechanical project information requirements.• Ensures that Mech actions and information requirements resulting from project reviews and/or 3rd party information requirements are met and comprehensively delivered on time.• Support the delivery of the project on time, cost and quality.• Deliver a plant that is fully documented from a mechanical maintenance perspective (templates, access and storage) and efficient to operate and maintain. • Collaborate with the project team and L&D staff to identify, define and ensure the timely delivery of training needs to maintenance support staff.• Collaborate with the Project team, Operations, and Maintenance to ensure that the right Mech systems are implemented.• Support safe operation of equipment through implementation of recognised standards including Plant and Equipment Commissioning Standards (JMC 811-112); Handover Standards (JMC 811-113) and the Inspection of New Plant and Equipment Requirement Standard (JMC 815-128).• Ensure that mechanical compliance is achieved through adherence with all legislative requirements.• Compile project technical/design specifications for Mech works packages.Person specificationHold an Engineering degree or equivalent experiential learning in Mechanical Engineering5+ years of industrial project work experience ideally within a chemical industryExperience in design and Understanding of DSEAR/ATEX regulationsimplementation of mechanical projectsExperience of working in Chemical or another high hazard sector (COMAH)How to apply:Internal applicants should advise their line manager before applying.
