Information Security Analyst Role overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Information Security Analyst to join the team. In this role you will be providing specialist IT security services to internal staff as directed by the IT Operations Manager, Head of Technology or Senior Leadership Team or as per operational requirements. Operational responsibilities are directed by threat and situational intelligence, and internal project throughout.

What we need you to do as a Information Security Analyst
  • As our Information Security Analyst, you will be Identifying potential security events using security monitoring tools, triage and investigate to identify security incidents or data breaches
  • Write and maintain Incident Response Plans in support of organisational Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
  • Utilise vulnerability management tools to carry out continuous/regular scans to identify, contextualise and prioritise weaknesses.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for ensuring remediation plans are prioritised, agreed and actioned
  • Carry out regular internal security assessments including password audits and small-scale web application and infrastructure penetration tests
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the Security Policy Set is maintained, is fit for purpose and up-to-date.
  • Provide regular Security Awareness Training workshops to the Pro:Direct stakeholders at all levels, including temporary staff, regular employees, management and senior leadership team.
  • Provide advice and guidance companywide

Your skills as a Information Security Analyst
  • Excellent understanding of network, operating system, application and organisational security concepts
  • Excellent knowledge of security risk assessment, and security testing principles and tools
  • Proven experience using vulnerability scanning tools, & carrying using monitoring tools
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Windows client operating systems, Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Active Directory
  • Good understanding of the operation of desktop hardware and software and associated peripherals and software drivers
  • Good understanding of Ethernet and TCP/IP for wide and local area network topologies, DHCP and DNS
  • English and Maths GCSE at grade C or above
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task when under pressure and ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Able to work hours required by the position
  • Courteous, tidy and polite in all situations, particularly when under pressure from conflicting requirements
  • Ability to organise workload and prioritise
