Wholesale Category Controller - Wholesale - Scunthorpe - £50K + Car allowance, bonus (12.5% - 17%), health care scheme, pension, life assurance

This is a six / twelve month FTC to cover maternity leave...

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead in setting the WSP through working with the Co-op Buyers to finalise
  • Negotiate with suppliers on activation monies in line with the commercial agreement set by the Buyer
  • Influence and input into the promotional plans (including wholesale specific) and select and set these up on the Ready Reckoner (inc forecasting)
  • Work collaboratively with the Co-op Buyer to ensure they cover the strategic need of wholesale in all range reviews and adhoc tactical support
  • Select an effective wholesale range from the master assortment and suggest any additional wholesale specific requirements where needed and ensure we are GSCOP compliant
  • Brief and educate the Retail team to enable them to have brilliant conversations with Partners, working alongside this team through the involvement in critical meetings and gathering Partner feedback through this team to enable the continuous improvement of the product proposition for Partners and ultimately shoppers
  • Drive strategic and tactical trade activities through the creation of loyalty and wholesale/bulk deals
  • Day to day management of own brand mix
  • Responsible for accurate validation and forward communication of all commercial monies

Job Knowledge:

  • Strong retail, supplier and market place knowledge
  • Sound understanding of the principles of category management
  • Proven buying and negotiation experience

Commercial Acumen

  • 2+ years' relevant buying experience
  • Experience working in a wholesale environment
  • Proven track record of results delivery and achieving financial targets.
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Strong customer and market focus
  • Good understanding of all Microsoft applications
  • Range creation from data and insight

Leadership & Coaching

  • People management experience
  • Ability to engage direct reports to deliver the plan with effective communication, clear goals and individual targets and objectives.
  • Ability to recruit, develop and address and any performance issues within the team to enable delivery of the plan.
  • Ability to coach and support individuals with their personal and professional development.
