Our client, a contractor in the water industry needs a Regional Manager to manage the Southern Water and Thames Water frameworks. The position will be managing a team of 60 and the role is based in Maidstone.


Responsible for reviewing and approving all project programmes of work
Responsible for agreeing the baseline of a project, including Programme of Work, Risk and Assumptions
Ensure projects follow the Project Life Cycle
Responsible for reviewing and approving documents created by the Project Manager or Project Engineers required by the Project categorisation and/or Project Artefact Matrix
Responsible for ensuring that projects are effectively governed using corporate and local governance as appropriate
Responsible for ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme of projects
Day to day management of staff and subcontractors working within the Project team(s), including health and safety, forward workload planning, coordination with other Regional Managers and Labour Resource Manager and recruitment of regional staff
Responsible for the appraisal, objective setting and development of staff (not subcontractors) as designated,
Direct management of projects as allocated
Produce schedule of project artefact requirements and obtain Business approval
Effective management of Clients and other stakeholders' representatives promoting the company's capability and developing opportunities
Responsible for the Client Interface of a Framework, as designated, ensuring the framework is delivered within the contractual obligations including KPI's, Client feedback meetings, Client social events, Framework extension processes and active team building and liaison for the business and other departments.
Work within a monthly project reporting structure, responsible for receiving & providing accurate project dashboard information for review, discussion and action
Responsible for the communication of project risk, issues and action logs
Manage performance, measuring delivery milestones, quality outputs, programme variance and promotion of the business core values
Monitor, review and ensure effective change management
Proactively manage the Programme of projects impact on the environment and apply processes to ensure the protection of the environment
Assist and support Project Managers and Project Engineers
Accept and deal with issues escalated by Project Managers and Project Engineers
Escalate project issues to the Delivery Director as appropriate
Seek approval for expenditure as required
Working as a member of the Senior Management Team and actively participating in business improvement projects as requiredSkills and Experience

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or a willingness to achieve this
Excellent stakeholder engagement, effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Experience as a Senior Project Manager with sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the overall programme
The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
Sound Knowledge of health & safety legislation, company procedures and CDM 15 regulations.
SMSTS and/or IOSH Managing Safely
Appropriate City & Guilds trade Qualification / degree where appropriate
Computer literate
Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes with experience or knowledge of planning software packages such as Microsoft Project / P6
