We are looking for an Assembly Technician to join a team based in Royston. You will be assembling (mainly plastic) products, where you'll need to be pretty nimble fingered. We are looking for people who enjoy working with fiddly parts and who are quality focused. You will need to work to very close detail and follow very tight processes. Initially this position is for six months working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
* Kit, assemble, test, inspect and pack products
* Meet specified quality standard
* Meet specified output targets
* The working environment is in a controlled clean room with overalls provided
* Follow work instruction documentation for assembly, test, inspect and packing
* Achieve the daily production target ensuring the assembled products meet the quality requirements
* Maintain tooling and jigs as instructed by the Team Leader
* Ensure that the clean room environment is kept clean and tidy at all times and undertake the routine 'clean-down' of the areas
* Ensure printed labels are applied correctly to all finished and packed items
* Replenish materials stock for weekly build as instructed by the Team Leader
* Accurately enter batch records and associated data into the production record spreadsheet in a timely manner
* Liaising with the team leader to overcome any issues / variances / concerns with the assembly process
* Flexibility to tackle other tasks from time to time as required
Requirements
* GCSE/O level English, Mathematics or Science
* Experience of working in a technical production or assembly environment
* Able to manage own workload to meet the required output and quality targets in a timely manner
* Working with others to resolve technical difficulties
* Working in a multi-product, mixed processes manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
* Knowledge of Lean tools
* High level of manual dexterity
* Good communicator (verbal)
* Excellent attention to detail
* Able to follow a fixed process without deviation
* Ability to work in a clean and controlled environment
* Understanding of the importance of quality, cost and efficiency
* Health and Safety Aware
* Team worker with good interpersonal skills
* Self-motivated and confident
* Tidy and methodical manner of working
