Role summary

Grow and manage an initially small software engineering team as well as being heavily engaged in the specification, architecting, development and implementation of a sophisticated customer design/development tool based upon industry standard CAD platforms. The aim of which is to enable the company's technology to be seamlessly integrated into customers' existing design flows, enabling the business to address a wide range of products covering the rapidly expanding markets in which they operate.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that the SW developed is designed and tested to the highest standards, as well as being clearly documented ready for use by customers. You will also assist in system level integration and development of internal tools, demonstration applications and test harnesses and systems.

This role will become more of a leadership role and less hands-on as the team expands over time.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the specification and architecting of Software Development Tools and Kits based upon industry standard CAD platforms, for use by customers, to enable integration of technology into both their existing design flows and hence new and existing product lines.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Team to define the algorithms required for the tool's development and implementation.
  • Co-ordinate, lead and have a hands-on involvement in the implementation, testing and documentation of the code.
  • Work effectively with the Engineering Team to create test harnesses and systems for the verification of modules and system level solutions
  • Work closely with the Engineering Team to define and control development libraries for use by customers as part of their system integration.
  • Communicate effectively with team members both orally and through written communication.

Experience required in some or all of the following
  • Bachelors/Masters in a relevant engineering discipline such as Computer Science or

Software Development with 8 years plus of industrial experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of object-oriented architectural system development and implementation preferably using either one or more of the following, C++/C#/Java/Python
  • Experience using APIs for CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Catia, AutoCAD, Fusion-360, NX, Solid Edge etc.
  • Knowledge of the following advantageous, .NET, Linux, Android
  • Experience of UI & UX design.
  • Good knowledge and experience of clean coding and code refactoring and good documentation practices using UML.
  • Experience of Test Harnesses and Systems development would be useful.
  • Experience using source and version control tools.
  • Experience of real time embedded systems development, not essential but a plus.
