IT Business Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire or Tunbridge Wells, Kent

The company are an innovative and entrepreneurial group of companies specialising in Motor Insurance Services who are an Investors in People Gold Champion organisation.


The IT Business Manager supports the Leadership Team in setting budgets for IT, promoting transparency around the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of IT services, and identifying opportunities to optimise the overall cost of delivery of IT services provided to the wider business. The role will sit within the IT Business Management Team. This team is responsible for the control and management of IT costs and comprises of Procurement, Vendor Management, Asset Management, Assurance and Finance expertise.

  • Control and measurement of IT Budgets
  • Monitor IT budgets for the effectiveness of spend in alignment with budget governance
  • Continually develop the method of recharging IT Costs in agreement with the group's business leaders
  • Delivering Board level reports with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders, responding to challenges and queries as required
  • Build and maintain good relationships across the various finance teams and the wider business areas, engaging them as necessary for inputs into financial models
  • IT Total Cost of Ownership
  • Define the scope of costs that will form the basis of IT TCO
  • Compare IT costs both internally and against appropriate benchmarks
  • Continually review and update TCO models and tools to ensure that they continue to provide reliable outputs
  • Where appropriate, apply IT TCO principles across other operational areas of the group

  • Strong commercial and strategic understanding
  • Senior Stakeholder management experience
  • Experience of managing IT Budgets in excess of £5m
  • Exposure to recharging models
  • Able to translate business requirements to technical and vice versa
  • Proven experience in driving cost savings and financial planning
  • Demonstrable knowledge of service provider contracts and procurement processes
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards, tax and legal requirements
  • Self-starter and able to work autonomously/within teams
  • Critical thinker and ability to demonstrate logical approach to problem solving
  • Experience of IT Financial Management and Procurement toolsets
  • Ability to gather accurate requirements
  • Adhere to GDPR, FCA, TCF and Data Protection Regulations
